Montgomery County FOP Lodge 35 is deeply disheartened by the verdict rendered in the case of Raphael Mayorga, where our very own Sgt. Patrick Kepp was the victim of a horrific collision, altering his life forever.
As we reflect on the jury’s decision, we hoped for a different outcome, but we must remember that the jury carries an enormous responsibility to reach a verdict based on the evidence presented.
Every day, our members risk their lives to protect the community from those who threaten the safety of others. On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, Sgt. Kepp, along with fellow Montgomery County and Gaithersburg Police officers, risked their own lives to accomplish the goal of protecting the community from an aggressive and reckless driver. Sgt. Kepp has displayed tremendous courage for returning to work to continue to combat this goal.
The FOP continues to support Sgt. Kepp and the members of FOP Lodge 35 in their efforts to enforce the laws of the state of Maryland and Montgomery County.
